Be A Reviewer On "Short On Shorts"

Official Rules

  1. Eligibility:  The Contest is open only to legal residents of the United States or Canada who are at least eighteen (18) years old.
  2. How to Enter:
    1. Create Your Entry: Put yourself on camera reviewing your favorite short film, upload it to YouTube or Vimeo, then go to http://goo.gl/qR7LUd to submit your entry.  Reviews must be three (3) minutes or less and you cannot review a film that you had any part in creating.  Any entries that exceed three minutes or display your name anywhere in the credits will be automatically disqualified.  Please see the “Content Requirements” Section below for additional requirements.
    2. Content Requirements: Please make sure your Entry does not: (i) violate anyone else’s rights, including their copyrights, trademark rights, or rights of privacy or publicity; (ii) contain any defamatory statements or threats; or (iii) prominently feature any trademarks or logos, unless you can provide to Colaborator written permission from the owners of the trademarks or logos to do so. Don’t do anything that’s likely to get you or anyone else hurt while filming the Entry, and make sure your Entry doesn’t encourage other people to do anything dangerous, either. We’ll accept anything ranging from a “G-rated” video to an “R-rated” video, but don’t go beyond that. We reserve the right to edit or refuse to post any Entry for any reason.
    3. Submit Your Entry: Visit http://goo.gl/qR7LUd and follow the instructions to submit your Entry. Only Entries submitted between 12:00AM PT on Wednesday, August 11, 2015 and 11:59PM PT on Sunday, August 30, 2015 will be eligible. There is no limit to the number of Entries you may submit; however, an Entry may only be submitted one (1) time.
    4. Representations and Warranties:  By entering, you represent and warrant that: (i) you accept these Official Rules and our decisions regarding the Contest; (ii) your Entry is an original work; and (iii) you own all rights to the Entry and have obtained all necessary and customary releases.
  3. Colaborator’s Rights to Entries:  You do not transfer ownership of your Entry by entering the Contest. However, by entering, you: (a) irrevocably grant Colaborator, its agents, licensees, and assigns the unconditional and perpetual (non-exclusive) right and permission to copyright, reproduce, encode, store, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, publicly perform, adapt, modify, create derivative works of, exhibit, and otherwise use your Entry as-is or as-edited (with or without using your name) in any media throughout the world for any purpose, without limitation, and without additional review, compensation, or approval from you or any other party; (b) forever waive any rights of copyrights, trademark rights, privacy rights, and any other legal or moral rights that may preclude Colaborator’s use of your Entry, or require any further permission for Colaborator to use the Entry; and (c) agree not to instigate, support, maintain, or authorize any action, claim, or lawsuit against Colaborator on the grounds that any use of the Entry, or any derivative works, infringes any of your rights as creator of the Entry, including, without limitation, copyrights, trademark rights, and moral rights.
  4. Winner Selection Process
    1. Finalists:  Between 12:00AM PT on August 31, 2015 and 11:59PM PT on September 6, 2015, the hosts of “Short on Shorts” will select ten (10) finalists from amongst all eligible entries based on the following Judging Criteria: 1) how engaging the reviewer is and 2) the insightfulness of the review. We reserve the right to select fewer than ten (10) finalists, if, in our sole discretion, we do not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries.
    2. Winners:  Between 12:00AM PT on September 7, 2015 and 11:59PM PT on September 14, 2015, “Short on Shorts’” Executive Producers will select one winner from amongst the finalists based on the Judging Criteria. We reserve the right to select no winner, if, in our sole discretion, we do not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries.
  5. Potential Winner Requirements:  We will attempt to contact potential winners within one (1) business day of selection. In order to win a prize, a potential winner may be required to complete and return the following documents: (a) an affidavit of eligibility and release; and (b) a release assigning and transferring all rights, title, and interest in the Entry to Colaborator.
  6. Prize:  One (1) First Prize winner will be invited to be a guest reviewer on a future episode of “Short on Shorts.”  The episode will be shot on a date that is mutually agreed upon by the winner and Colaborator.  Additionally, if the winner lives more than 150 miles from Colaborator’s main office (located at 1722 Whitley Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028), the winner will be provided with round trip coach transportation (air or rail) to and from Los Angeles, two nights’ lodging in a hotel or other suitable location of Colaborator’s choosing and round trip transportation between the hotel (or other lodging) and the “Short on Shorts” set on the day the episode is shot.
  7. General Conditions:  In the event the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired in any way, we may, in our sole discretion, either: (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest; or (b) award the prizes according to the Judging Criteria from among the Entries received up to the time of the impairment. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to disqualify and seek damages from any individual who tampers with the operation of the Contest, violates these Official Rules, or acts in a disruptive manner. Our failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. Proof of sending any communication to Colaborator by mail shall not be deemed proof that we received it. In the event of a dispute as to the owner of an Entry, the authorized account holder of the Colaborator account used to enter will be deemed to be the owner. There is no purchase necessary to enter. The Contest is subject to federal, state, provincial, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.
  8. Release and Limitation of Liability:  By entering, you agree to release and hold Colaborator, its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (the “Released Parties”) harmless from and against any and all liability, claims, actions, loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense (collectively, “Claims”) arising out of your participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest (including the voting process); (b) technical errors; (c) printing errors; (d) lost, late, postage-due, misdirected, or undeliverable mail; (e) errors in the administration of the Contest or the processing of Entries; or (f) injury or damage to persons or property. You further agree to indemnify, release, and hold the Released Parties harmless from any Claims that their use of your Entry (as contemplated herein) violates or infringes upon the rights of any third party.
  9. Privacy and Publicity:  Any information you submit as part of the Contest will be used for purposes of this Contest and treated in accordance with Colaborator’s Privacy Policy.
  10. Disputes:  Except where prohibited, you agree that any disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in California. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, your rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of Colaborator in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of California or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than California.
  11. Sponsor:  The Contest is sponsored by Colaborator, LLC, 1722 Whitley Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90028 (“Colaborator”).
